Install ExtraBrain On Mac And Windows

Install ExtraBrain from the official download page, which offers Mac and Windows installers from the latest release. On Mac, the desktop app supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs; individual local AI and transcription options depend on the Mac and macOS version.

Choose A Mac Build

Build	Setup differences
Direct download	Includes supported external subscription integrations, local Gemma, and the local MCP server. Pro uses a direct license.
Mac App Store	Uses Apple purchases and Restore Purchases. Local Gemma, external subscription integrations, and the local MCP server are unavailable.

Both builds support region capture. Phone Control availability depends on the installed build’s service configuration.

Install And Launch On Mac

1. Download the Mac build from the official page, or install from the Mac App Store.
2. For direct download, open the installer and move ExtraBrain into Applications as instructed.
3. Launch ExtraBrain and complete onboarding.
4. Grant the macOS permissions you need.
5. Configure transcription and an AI provider.

Install On Windows

1. Download the Windows installer from the download page, or install ExtraBrain from the Microsoft Store.
2. For direct download, run the installer. If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”, choose More info, then Run anyway.
3. Launch ExtraBrain and complete onboarding.
4. Configure transcription and an AI provider.

Verify Before A Call

Ask a typed question, test microphone and computer audio, capture one screenshot, and end a test session. Confirm the provider and privacy settings match your intended workflow.

The rest of this help center is written for the Mac app, so menu names and permission prompts can differ on Windows. Linux is planned, not a current release target.
