Set Up AI Providers
Use Settings → AI Providers to choose how ExtraBrain answers questions. Transcription is configured separately in Audio.
Choose A Setup Guide
Section titled “Choose A Setup Guide”- AI provider overview and primary/backup roles
- ExtraBrain AI and included credits
- Local Gemma
- OpenAI API or ChatGPT/Codex subscription
- Anthropic API or Claude subscription
- Custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint
- Parakeet, Apple Speech, or Deepgram transcription
Verify Readiness
Section titled “Verify Readiness”Enter credentials only in the app’s provider fields, or follow its sign-in flow. Validate or re-check status, assign the primary provider, and run a short question plus screenshot test. Review automatic failover if you configure a backup.
The direct-download app supports local Gemma and external subscription integrations; the Mac App Store app does not. ExtraBrain AI needs an eligible plan and positive credit balance. External API and subscription costs remain with those accounts.
